Senior Technical Advisor, Community Outreach and Advocacy, Women Empowerment Program titled “Muslim Women’s Initiative” in Karnataka, Rajasthan and Delhi (May 1, 2004, to March 31, 2011) with IFES (International Foundation for Electoral Systems). This program has been selected as one of the 9 successful case studies across the globe under the category of inclusion of minorities into the democratic system by IDEA (International Institute for Democracy and Electoral Assistance) based in Stockholm. Research Paper on this program was presented at XXII World Congress of International Political Science Association in July 2012 in Madrid.

As Program Head my responsibilities were:

  • Project Design
  • Designing project hypothesis, strategies, components and anticipated results of the program along with preparing a list of foresee challenges and corrective steps to be taken
  • Management
  • Providing managerial support in Planning, Monitoring, Documentation, Supervision operationalisation and mid course corrections, capacity building, of the project being implemented by the partner NGOs including  financial aspects and budgets

Gender Specialist, Project Concern International India (Jan 30, 2012 to May 23, 2013)

As Gender Specialist my responsibilities included and accomplishments:

  • Reviewed organisation policy and programs/projects from gender perspective and recommended inputs for gender equity and mainstreaming
  • Designed Gender Equity Policy-Reference and Guide Booklet for the organisation
  • Developed and disseminated knowledge material on women’s issues and gender issues among staff members through Gender Discourse E-Forum
  • Highlighted women focused and gender focused activities of the organisation through writings
  • Designed concept note for gender initiative
  • Strengthened gender mainstreaming initiatives of the organisation at global level being member of GEC

  • Technical inputs for programme implementation, participate in programme appraisal meetings, evaluation process, review inputs to research studies/knowledge documents, design research and advocacy proposals, conduct training sessions on understanding gender for important stakeholders, design gender mainstreaming policy document

  • Invited as Scholar-in-Residence Fellow under Fulbright Grant by Mesa Community College, Phoenix University in 2006
  • Served as Visiting Fellow to PG Development Communication Course in Mass Communication Research Centre, Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi in 2004
  • Qualified National Eligibility Test for Lecturer ship (NET) of University Grants Commission in December 1994
